About the Author

Realizing that music is a universal language and an important part of children's lives and ours, I eagerly began my career as an elementary music teacher. I wanted my students to learn basic skills and concepts and to understand that music is both a wonderful source of entertainment and relaxation.

Knowing that children love reading, I searched for a way to incorporate stories about long and short sounds, tempo, dynamics, and high and low sounds into music lessons. The characters and brief stories I created for my students helped them understand basic concepts.

Luke and Lori's Musical Journey is a useful guide for teachers as well as parents. The book can be read in its entirety or one chapter at a time for classroom purposes. For example, Kimbo Tempo can be read and discussed to help students understand tempo in a specific lesson.

Luke and Lori, the main characters in this book, introduce the basic elements of music as they take a musical journey with characters from Music Land. Come along with Luke and Lori as they meet Farmer Sound, Kimbo Tempo, Derek Dynamic, and Penny Pitch. Let your imagination take you places you've never been before!
